Who are the "pro- life "?
The pro-life born of opposition to the Veil law legalizing abortion in 1975. Catholic fundamentalist, right-wing or reactionary of all stripes, they demand the abolition of abortion rights and facing a defender embryos and fetuses.
In clinics and abortion centers, they blame the women who come seeking help for an abortion or try to prevent abortions. They are influential in political circles right now in power: access to abortion is constantly undermined by declining funding and the closure of abortion centers.
Why we must fight today?
Because all women are entitled to dispose of their bodies and their lives, without any outside authority intervenes.
Because abortion under proper conditions should not become a privilege reserved for those who can afford a private clinic.
Because we believe that our life is other than procreation and motherhood.
To those who think that with the means of contraception we should no longer need to resort to abortion we suggest that men also carry the weight of financial and physical coercion that is contraception.
Today we have the right to abortion, however, the moral support is low compared with pressures of family and society who seek to impose motherhood as a prerequisite for being "an accomplished woman." Moreover, it is not just to raise a child but also to mate with a man, becoming pregnant and giving birth: Needless to say that a couple of lesbians who have the right to adopt would not be considered "accomplished women" because they have a child.
Ce mélange de catholiques intégristes et de réactionnaires ne manifestent pas seulement pour défendre des embryons, ils perpétuent ainsi la défense du modèle familial blanc, hétérosexuel, patriarcal, celui qui a toute sa place dans le système capitaliste, vecteur d’oppression pour toutes celles qui tentent de s’en libérer ou qui en sont exclues.
