A year from August
And here. For a week, it's been a year since I saw abroad. Canada. In Montreal.
was a whole bunch of challenges before leaving. Breakfast Date:
- the first challenge, it was the life together, especially since Miss made its decision to follow me just nearly six months after we met. On this point, we can say that the challenge is met, and that is the everyday with a large percentage of success. New adventures are to follow on this side, so.
- the second in my case, that was my reason for being here rather than in Paris. Music. Montreal music scene prolific, abundant, wide open ... The second in the world after NYC, according Juz happened this summer (if you say). So I knocked on doors, I introduced myself ... and it looks like an oddly conventional job search, the dress code in less (or at any rate, I am not watch).
Gradually, I discovered I meet people. For now, concretely, it gave me an invitation as a musician as an electro trio for a concert. Jams on Wednesday evening (almost) the last few weeks with a violinist. Meet a rapper, with a project idea "on ice" because it is super busy (I've typed in the right place ... or not).
Y still has work, then.
- the challenge without precedent which can not last long: money. I thought that the first check, quickly done well with a small job at Archambault. Bin no. Never contacted by stores or other booksellers in which I asked for part-time. Too bad. So I am working a little more to the luthier for which I present instruments. I advise clients who are shopping for a violin, I love it, and my report # of Sales / Number of submissions increases frankly since last June. And now I'm the maintenance of its machines, computer future maintenance of the website.
It does not pay my share of rent, bills (after one year, Hydro has divided our monthly bills by 2 anyway ...) or the grocery store. Thank you miss. But it is on track, I think, especially since I got rid of the bad conscience for not scheduling "9h-17h like everyone else."
We still wonder "then, still no job?", But the frequency decreases slowly.
The physical facility is a few months. An apartment, furniture, know the area, buses, shops, metro ...
Installation social cons by ... at times, I feel it is only beginning. Fortunately, my cousins are there for us early AC was much more useful. But we must admit we do not know much of Quebecers. We still discovering the intricacies of relationships: the first and most difficult to assimilate, it is the "level 0" of the social relationship with a stranger ie "warm". In France, ca itself as a "level 1 or 2", where some uncertainties. It comes slowly.
So our first friends here, despite good intentions, they are French.
To be continued ...
